The making of a zombie bride

October 19, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Happy Halloween everyone and welcome to a spooky edition of my blog. I thought I would have a little Photoshop fun and create a zombie bride for you all.

There were a few things I needed to do to prepare for creating our decaying bride, played by the beautiful Brittany. First I needed to figure out how I would make decaying flesh and I needed a skeleton.

For the skeleton, I found a plastic Halloween prop at the discount store for $4.99. It is really very small. Only the size of a 2 year old.  I shot various parts of him in different positions to be cut out and used to build our bride.

For the decaying flesh, I used a pork roast my mm happened to be thawing out. It had skin on it so I made some gashes in it to reveal flesh and added some fake blood. I then selected the fleshy bloody gashes in Photoshop and copied them and then pasted them onto my zombie image.

The video below will show you in 7 minutes what took me about 12 hours to build using Photoshop CC. I hope you enjoy "The making of a Zombie Bride"

Until next time, have a safe and incredibly goulish Halloween!

HV fall 2016 1194HV fall 2016 1194

Hello everyone!! Ahhhhh Fall!! My favorite time of year!

I'm excited! I took a drive up Hwy 88 from Amador county, up country to Hope Valley to see if the aspens had started to change. I was surprised to see that it was starting to turn and that the trees looked much healthier than I remember them being last fall.  Last fall, the trees seemed to lose their leaves before they had a chance to change color. Many just dried up and fell off, but this year, everything looks much healthier. It gives me high hopes that in just a week or so the color should be amazing. I am planning a trip back up to Hope Valley on Oct. 4th so I will have an update then. For now, this is what it looked like this past weekend Sept. 25th. This was a grove near Sorensons Resort. The color seems to have started there first.

Well, I hope you are inspired to get out there and shoot the fall color. There are so many places to go. Hope Valley, Lake Tahoe, Monitor Pass, Markleeville, and over along Hwy 395, Twin Lakes, Convict Lake and all along the Inyo Valley.

Thanks for subscribing to my blog.

Happy Fall!!

Hello again!! It is a gorgeous day once again. It feels like spring already! Well, today I have another tutorial video to share with you. This time we will learn about Aperture, f/stops, depth of field (DOF) and the cause and effect of using your f/stops. I hope these tutorials help you master your DSLR.  I hope to improve on my tutorials as I go. Knowing about photography and putting it into words for someone else to understand has been more challenging than I expected. I think this Aperture tutorial will help you a lot though if you struggle with fstops and what they do.

Well, thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you keep coming back for more of my tutorials.

Have a wonderful day and happy shooting!
